Home-Kit Michelson Interferometer
Assembled and tested an inexpensive home-kit Michelson interferometer that can be used for outreach.
Project Details:
The goal of this project was to produce fringe patterns, or optical interference patterns, outside of a lab setting using a home-kit Michelson interferometer, and to explain the phenomena observed by analyzing the spectra of each source. My lab partner Carolina Corella and I also evaluated a 3D printed mirror mount to determine how we can further reduce the cost of this interferometer.
In this lab project, I was the video editor responsible for putting together the video report shown below. I also successfully aligned the system so that we were able to produce interference fringes with a laser diode and 3 different LEDs.
